Ingredients |
Basmati Rice |
1 ½ cup (1 cup = 200 gm) |
Bottle Gourd |
750 gm |
Tomato |
400 gm |
Red Chilly powder |
1 tsp or to taste |
Turmeric powder |
½ tsp |
Salt |
½ tsp or to taste |
Oil or Ghee |
3 tsp |
Mustard Seed |
1 tsp |
Coconut |
2 hand full |
Onion |
1 medium size |
Cumin Seed |
1 tsp |
Ani Seed |
1 tsp |
Garlic |
4 -5 flakes |
Coriander leaves |
2 tbsp |
Curry Leaves |
1 sprig |

Method |

Wash the rice and soak it with 3 cup of water for 20 minutes.
Peel & cut bottle Gourd into one inch cubes.
Cut tomato into small pieces.
Grind coconut, onion, cumin seed, Aniseed and garlic with very less water.
Preheat the pot on medium heat till the needle reaches the middle of yellow field.
Put oil or Ghee and mustard seed and wait till the mustard breaks and add the curry leaves.
Add bottle gourd, tomato, chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt and stir them for 30 seconds.
Add the rice with the same water, grinded paste and coriander leaves stir them well and close the pot.
When the needle reaches the green field reduce the heat into low.
When the needle reaches the 2nd mark on the green field switch off the stove.
After 5 minutes open the pot, carefully mix rice and enjoy it. |
